About the Author
David A. Phillips (1934-1993) wrote 12 books. His expertise in health and nutrition culminated in his attainment of a doctorate in philosophy from London University in 1971. This book is the bee's knees!!!

I am halfway through this book and found it so informative that I jumped right on amazon to purchase a few for family members. I recently developed an interest in numberology and symbolism and bought this book as a beginner read to find out a little more about the subject. I was not disappointed! The book gives you the right tools/knowledge to learn about your inner self and the profound impact (birthdate/year, persoal year numbers, ruling numbers) numbers have on your life. I whole heartedly recommend this book to ANYONE who is even slightly interested in the subject.

This a VERY good book, with topics you won`t find in no other Numerology book, like Chapter 6, "The Arrows of Individuality", or Chapter 12, "The Astrology / Numerology connection". Unfortunately the author has passed away. I also recommend to read the chapter 16, "Reincarnation, Do We Have a Choice?"

I love this book!

It's my first time to study numerology in depth, this book is amazing because it's very detailed. I have learned a lot, I think it's accurate because I have a bunch of numerology apps and read a lot about my own birthday and name meaning and they all say the same thing. I think numerology is a must learn for everyone, it will help you understand yourself as well as other people's behavior and it can be a guide to achieve greatness. I will definitely recommend this book to anyone, most specially people having identity crisis. This will help with your personal growth!

John is the author of several books on accounting and finance, including The Fast Forward MBA in Finance, How To Read a Financial Report, and Small Business Financial Management Kit For Dummies with his son Tage Tracy. John received his BSC degree from Creighton University. He earned his MBA and PhD degrees at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He is a CPA (inactive) in Colorado.

Unlike Accounting for Dummies, this one isn't for the newbies

I agree with reviewer 'Adult Learner2 "ace_magician"' and advice against buying the book if you're new to accounting and expect to build up your skills by going through the practice questions.

Here's my response to the review of 'Adult Learner2 "ace_magician"':

I regret to report that I failed to heed the reviewer's advice and have suffered for it.

Given that this title is a "workbook," the reader is supposed to have rudimentary knowledge of accounting principles before starting the book, and I don't find that unreasonable. I've finished Tracy's Accounting for Dummies and liked it for its clarity. I wholly expected this book to be just as clear and easy to follow. It isn't.

As you can see from all the other reviews, this is best as a refresher course for someone who isn't a real dummy in accounting and not as an introductory course for beginners.

While it did help me get a better idea of how the concepts work in practice, I only made it half-way through and decided to start over with another book. The author has failed to explain many customary practices used in accounting and simply expects the reader to figure them out in context. While that is indeed possible, all the guesswork involved makes me unsure of just how correct I'm about anything.

The chapter 2 practice questions that the reviewer mentioned are particularly atrocious in its failure to explain. Though later chapters are much better, the book fails to build up the reader's knowledge gradually and proceeds at an uneven path. For an accounting novice, while you do get something out of the book, for all the effort you have to put into figuring everything out yourself, you don't learn enough from it for all the hard work involved.

Also a note to Kindle readers: The answer keys are apart from the questions and there are no easy way to go to the answers except flipping through the pages to find them. The back-and-forth between going to the answer keys and continuing reading the next section or next question is frustrating and annoying. If you're buying this, get a paper book instead.

technical glitches

I'm not an accountant, so I really cannot rate the overall content of the book. To me it seems to be pretty good, and the reading is managable and easy to comprehend. The BIG problem with this book is the digital editing. I am reading it on a PC app and the right side of all the figures listed in the book are cut off, making them mostly useless. Figure 1-3 about the statement of cash flow was the worst because all the numbers were removed from the figure. The numbers that were supposed to be there, were listed in the discussion of the table. To get the whole picture of the table and finally understand it, I had to copy the text on a sheet of paper and then fill-in the numbers. MADDENING. I also tried to adjust font size and number of words per line, but to no avail. THE PUBLISHER AND/OR AMAZON NEEDS TO FIX THIS GLITCH.

Don't buy this product until these problems corrected!!

If it were possible to give zero stars, I would do so. There is no functioning Table of Contents. There are no page numbers. I have found this to be true of every "For Dummies" title I have bought for viewing on my Kindle App on iPad (I have three books, all bought through Amazon). I have sent an email message from within the Kindle ("Contact Us" in Settings) regarding this problem, but no response received...yet! Over a week now.

Just like the title

Just like the title, this book is written simply. However, this doesn't detract from its efficacy. I have known pete for a while now, and while his views might considered 'out there', they work. He practices what he preaches, which is pretty rare these days. I'd like to say thanks Pete, for putting a lot of your knowledge onto paper. One of the other reviewers said that this is like a stream of consciousness. I agree. I disagree that it needs structure. If you've met Pete, you'll know this book is written by him, as him and is as authentic as you'll get. Its a distillation of the years of research and exploration Pete has done. Take from it what you will, but if you try one or two things from here, and keep it simple, you'll be surprised at the results.

Great read, you should know some NLP before reading though

His style is certainly unorthodox, but it is effective. I think one of the greatest learnings one can take away from this book is that you are not selling a product or service, but you are selling feelings. Tie those feelings to your product and you will make sales.

Some notes:

- He has very few lists of actions to do (he does list them in the back, but they are not tied into the main part of the book very well). That being said, make your own notes as that will likely be more effective anyway

- True, not really any typos, but that is the ambiguity he is trying to convey to the reader (and ultimately to your own ability to use ambiguity).

- He is being a bit outrageous, but that also is funny. It is a bit of a warped sense of humor, but I like it a lot. Should you really dress up as a priest to sell cars? No, but he is pushing the boundaries to show there really are no boundaries.

- Formal NLP training not required, but maybe a crash course in it would help, mostly with the vocabulary

You want this. You want this sooo much.

Do you want to sell more and more and feel good and control how much you sell and at what prices?

Selling is way more simple than most gurus would have you believe. You don't need to find and dig for pain or use a million closing techniques all of that stuff is for idiots to buy from people who want to take so something simple and make it realllly hard. It's gross people struggling with these.

If you want steps to go with this...

Develop questions that will discover someone's model for buying your product.
List objections to inoculate against.
Practice ambiguities and embedding to increase your flexibility and close more people.

Fake, Annoying, but utterly enjoyable.

Warning: The grammar in this book is bad on purpose.

With that said, of course this doesn't appeal to everyone, but it is a wonderful resource. A non-fiction book as funny as this doesn't come along everyday. In typical post-90's Bandler style, this one portrays him as a slightly neurotic and over-the-top character who really challenges you and motivates you to really get out there and "just do it." You may find him unlikable and disagreeable, but you love him anyways, and that's really the proof that what he discusses works on some level.

I disagree with all of the reviewers who say that this book is light on tips. There are at least seven decidedly unique strategies that you can use on your clients based on what was said in this book. Small things, yes, and some are very specific, but they're still in there to use.

I found Persuasion Engineering to be a wealth of information, not because of the methods he teaches (most of which are more than a little outrageous and probably not practical), but because of the way in which they are taught. I think that the point of the way that they taught this course was to go overboard in hopes that you would meet them halfway. And if you go just halfway, you'll really change the way you do your job.

Excellent. Get it.

I'm don't understand why this has as many positive reviews as it does. My primary issues summarized as follows (in order of importance):

- It is very short. There are 90 pages total. Those pages are smaller than average, the font size is large with 1.5 line spacing, and there is a lot of white-space. I have no experience with SQL, and read this carefully in less than an hour.
- For the reason above, this item (I won't call it a book) is very overpriced.
- It is not professionally edited or published, which would not be a problem except that many errors were not caught.

As first step Great Beginning

After reading this book i must a good start for any beginner.From very starting and then going step by step the book has explained every single part of SQL and DATABASE,from Introduction to examples.It has everything.As per me SQL is quite complicated and difficult to learn but after going through this book i felt that you can learn SQL and DATABASE easily and in an understanding manner.I must recommend this.

Great book for learning how to create query strings

My husband has joked for years that given my proofreading and OCD background I would make an excellent DBA.

We are considering creating an online store and I wanted to learn how to create query strings and pivot tables within the product database. This book gave me the background and samples to be able to make notes and bookmark in the kindle edition to the command prompts I had wanted to learn.
